In addition to the pastoral team, elders and spiritual shelter leaders are responsible for the spiritual life and pastoral care of the congregation.  The pastoral team exercises leadership in calling elders and spiritual shelter leaders who are then affirmed by the congregation.  Elders shall serve three year terms which are renewable.

Specifically, elders and spiritual shelter leaders are responsible for the ministry of spiritual shelters.  They provide leadership for a specific spiritual shelter and the pastoral care, evangelistic outreach, personal discipling and counseling for the members of their group.  In general, together they give and receive counsel regularly with the pastoral team concerning the spiritual life and discipline of members and oversee a comprehensive congregational plan for visitation and pastoral care.   As a group they keep membership records and report all actions concerning membership (baptism, transfers, forfeitures, reinstatements) to the congregation.   They participate in special task forces in areas of special spiritual concerns as needed.

The elders and spiritual shelter leaders shall meet together with the pastoral team once each month for vision sharing, skill development, and coordination of spiritual ministries.
